Eating out in Osaka..drooool


Just touched down like 8 am in the morning here in osaka, which is like 7am in sg, and i decided not to sleep 1st and went out to Namba to check out my nespresso boutique instead..not sure why i did that since i already ordered my capsules online..(must be the lack of sleep i think) and so yeah before tat, i have to check out tat noodle joint William (my team LS) was telling me the other time i was here..so here it is..and wtf..u have to Q..






Lucky the ramen noodles tat was served after the long wait was worth it, although the bbq pork slice was very smooth, it wasnt really my cup of tea due to the high amount of fats u can see there, i have tried smoother char siew in Tokyo b4 and it doesnt have so much fat on it, LOL . Not tat its a bad thing, but i guess its a little too much for me, the soup however was A PLUS..i think its some rib stock wtih roasted garlic and little chilli stuff, really tasty..



and while i was messing with stuff on the table, i cant help it but realised this cute stone or maybe clay crafted turtles on the table, which upon further examination revealed itself to be some sauce and garnish container ..haha gotta take a pic of this , kinda cool ..to me at least
i kinda realised its a realllly realllly really BAD idea to go Namba when u havent slept for like 20over hrs cos i was seriously dragging myself, i even forgot to go to my favourite takashimaya food court in the basement !!! but I did manage to buy my nesspresso limited edition..and got a bad toothache near my wisdom tooth, it better not be my wisdom tooth being funny but everytime i drink coffee, the pain comes quite bad..better make an appointment with DR JERRRYY LIAN. and yeah, to let whomever tat never been to Namba walking street in Osaka, here is a visual of how its like, ONLY...U have to multiply tat pic like 8 over times of wat u see, tat is amount of small shops and restaurants they got, so yeah..BAD idea to go there if u're like "no hidden agenda, just window shopping" when u dun have enuff sleep like me.LOL
Dragged myself back to Miyako sheraton hotel to catch some sleep before going to tat katsu store tat i ate with Dora the other time to try out some new dish, (er...although its a pork cutlet joint, they basically served it with different kind of variety, like with radish, or with just egg and sauce etc)I ordered the radish version, cost me 660, wasnt tat bad, but guess i will go for some soupy stuff or even tempura tomorrow. Does it taste good?..seriously..i really havent tasted ANYTHING tat is like bad in Japan..YET. and hopefully i dun cos its not cheap here hahahaha
Gotta check this huge mall with a ferris wheel tomorrow, called HEP5..wtf sounds like some STD name..its actually Hankyu Entertainment Plaza 5 LOL. see ya!

Nespresso invade Dave Kitchen!

I have been craving for this new gadget for like 4mths plus? ever since i get to know abt it, the latest technology of extracting the prefect espresso..cup after cup...and with ease..i was tempted to get those 2000 over commerical kind of machine but gave cos basically..NO ONE FREAKING drinks coffee but myself!!! so to save the trouble of all those cleaning and stuff...

NESPRESSO latest machine The cube (which actually won a red dot design award) arrives in Daves Kitchen 27MAY 2007!! simple and elegant to use, just open the handle bar, pop in ur 12 premium blends of coffee capsules and press...voila!!! the perfect espreso....with the GPPHMMM factor ( whichever way u spell it but u get the idea) the only catch is the capsules are costly, it came up to be abt 76sg cents per cup...but hey..tats OK man!! the fucking burnt coffee u get in kopi diam cost 90cents~!!!!

ok i know this is beginning to sound like some advertisments but i still good things comes to those tat share....check out www.nespresso.com if u wana know the technology behind it and the blends if u are a coffee drinker but dun wan the mess...As for me i gotta order each of this capsules and taste them more to figure out which is my type haha,Later man!

Super easy teriyaki wings n grilled prawns

OK 1st of all, this aint the latest stuff tat is cooking in my kitchen but yeah, old stuff doesnt mean its bad stuff right? so lets share the goodness

This is like the easily and most straight forward stuff u can ever cook up if u have frds coming over to crash or just wana have some finger food.

Marinated wings with teriyaki sauce for like 3 hrs or more and baked them for like 10min on each sde @ 200deg. sprinkle some parsley for colour and taste..sweetness


For the garlic prawns, u need to mash up some garlic and butter spread and stuff the gooodness in the middle of each prawn, (slice them in the middle pls DUHZ...) and grill!! same as the chicken, add some pepper and optional some salt but not too much cos the butter is already salted hehe

Wooooooooot!!! i finally did it !! Been practising this stunt for months on my lousy krups machine, and it is almost impossible as the steam and esspresso extraction really sucks big time..but apparently when i get my hands on this Australian Milk "Dairy Farmers"(dun ask me how i got it..hehe)

I realised i got some really silky and textured stuff going on tat kinda looks like microfoam...for those tat doesnt know wtf i am ranting abt, Microfoam is basically what u can get with those commerical coffee machines and frothing ur milk till all u get is a silky, creamy textured foam,
Unfortunately, if u are a coffee drinker in sg, it is almost impossible to see ANY barista in sg producing tat, i guess they dun really care cos all i see is young part timers as baristas...i bet they dun even know wtf is microfoam although they have the equipment in front of them tat is capable of producing it..sighhh wat a shame indeed..

So what is u get microfoam? hmm if u get a good froth as tat , with the addition of a well extracted esspresso...what u will taste in ur mouth is just...heavenly...so sweet and creamy and the latte or flat white u got will go down so smooth , u will NEVER...cough i mean NEVER look at normal lattes the same way ever again..i swear

amsterdam with tiffany = heineken gogo


Ok this is actually some pics taken quite some time ago when i got to do a flt with tiffany..damn hilarious, we basically start our " tour" of amsterdam with beer and end it with more beer for the next 10 over hrs..LOL and yeahhh the Heineken Brewery experience, seriously if u ever tasted their Heineken Extra Cold...beer will never be same again..

the console u see there is actually "playable" i n way u can press buttons and control the lights and play some dj beats and stuff..kinda like those toys tat suppose to teach kids how to use a computer hahahah NOOOBISH.

i got some more pics on the tulips tour but personally think its kinda of boring...so i guess i wont be posting those up (unless dad or someone wana see it haha)

Fish and bacon = heaven


Was watching lifestyle food channel in sydney the other night and suddenly got this urge to cook up some fish when i got back to sg, so here it goes; Manage to get snapper fillet instead of other white fish steak, wasnt really looking for cod as i prefer to pan fry cod with just the basics, (salt pepper, balsamic parsley and yes olive oil..) the menu i thought of goes like : panfried snapper fillet, top with bacon with sauted spinach ( VERY YUMMMY) and roasted potatoes. Sauce of choice : mango/ginger sauce for tat sweet and fruit punch..(RIGHt ON!) preparation was quite simple , just tat u need 2 frying pans if u wana sauted ur spinach and pan fry ur fish at the same time , which also means more stuff to wash later on..(damn...) the mango sauce is more work cos i gotta slice the mango (pretty big) and some ginger, and blend in everything with dijon mustard and some chicken stock,. This sauce should go pretty well with the potatoes and i guess from the feedback i got from my best frd Andy and wife Lyn, it does seemed like a good idea hehe.

That empty plate u see there is bascially a finished dish of baked potatoe with prosciutto ham (seems like i keep using this expensive ham huh,..lol wat to do man, it taste so good compared to bacon...)

This is what it looks like when cut open, layers of thinly sliced potatoes with goat cheese in between..sllluuurrrp!
and of cos topped with the prosciutto ham , so what u get in the end is a soft textured kinda pie with the taste of cheese and ham to give the extra flavouring. I asked dear if she likes it and yeah, THUMBS Up!

alrite!! manage to get this thingy working and so here i am , 1st blog, and 1st post..like the youtube video FIRST..if u even bother to search wat tat is haha
going to fly to osaka later in the evening ..abt 3hrs from now , damn i love japan, food is good, girls looks good, and everything is just screaming "BUY ME" arghhh i remember i bought my nintendo wii controller in Tokyo b4 i even bought my wii console haha
ok enuff ranting abt my boring schedule, lets talk abt wat this blog is abt;

FOOD

and oh yeah u better respect tat man cos today, this afternoon, i manage to cook the most authentic Carbonara ever..no added cream nonsense or stuff, and no using of bacon, instead, i used parma ham or proscuitto ham, parmesan cheese and some salt /pepper for taste of cos and not forgetting ...the egg with parsley (flat parsley)

and i used linguine i got from marks and spencer..not sure why i got it there but usually the ones i buy from cold storage "Barilla" doesnt have linguine and somehow i was having craving for aglio oilo linguine so yeah..
